Dave and Gretchen Part III

The final day of Dave and Gretchen's fabulous wedding weekend : THE WEDDING!!! Getting to spend three days with this crowd was so fun and by the end of the weekend, I got to know everyone a little better and wasn't just "the photographer". Thanks so much everyone for including me in your day! I had a blast! Below are the details:

Dave & Gretchen married August 23, 2008

Venue: Auberge du Soleil

Event Design / Coordinator: Cindy Danbom, Bella Notte Events

Hair & Make-up: Taylor Pham, Thi Cosmetics

Floral Design: Water Lily Pond Floral Design

Ceremony Music: Nova Jazz

Linens : Wildflower Linens

Photography: Jennifer Skog

Taylor did such an incredible job with Gretchen's hair and make-up!

I ADORE this shot of Gretchen's sister, mom, and bridesmaid watching her leave to go see her groom for the first time.

Dave was so charming in his three piece suit.

First Sight....

LOVE the floral details.

Hello gorgeous bride!!!!

Gretchen's brother is so cute... Look at his expression when seeing his big sis for the first time all dressed up!

Needless to say, it was a sunny day in the Napa Valley! I love this shot of Gretchen walking down the aisle.

A little private time right after the ceremony.

The incredible room Cindy designed for dinner.

Dave and Gretchen gave Cindy complete freedom in designing the reception room - I love the whimsical feel she gave to it. And the special drinks of the night, two of my favorites : the cosmo and the mojito.

Everyone cut loose at the reception, even Grandma :) I love this shot!

Dave & Gretchen Part II

Day Two of Dave and Gretchen's celebration weekend started with a tour of the Napa Valley by train! In all of my 10 years of legal drinking age, I have never been on one of the wine train tours! It was fun! They had rented out the caboose of the train, so we even got to stand out on the back of the train where we could enjoy the ride from outside!

The rehearsal dinner was held at Tra Vigne in the couryard.

Can't beat good food and wine!

Dave and Gretchen Part I

As I've mentioned before, Cindy Danbom of Bella Notte Events is one of my favorite people to work with and because of her, I got to photograph Dave and Gretchen's incredible weekend up in Napa! Dave and Gretchen live in Minnesota and wanted to treat their closest friends and family to a great time in the Napa Valley. Dave really loves history and is fascinated with Architecture, so the Castello di Amorosa was perfect place to treat their guests to a wine education evening. This place is amazing!!!! It's a REAL castle built of materials imported from Rome and Italy and other parts of Europe to make it as close to a real castle as possible. The evening started with a cocktail hour in one of the castle's courtyards; we were completely surrounded by the stone walls and had a musician to really set the mood. After a few bites to eat and refreshing drinks, we headed through the tunnels for the tour, it is just ridiculous how cool this place was. Elaine Bell Catering provided dinner in one of the Castles dining rooms. Everything was just really amazing. Dave and Gretchen were so generous treating their guests and Cindy and I to such a wonderful evening. Here are a few favs from the night:

There was a long walkway up to the entrance of the castle surrounded by this fun grass, trees and a chicken coup! With chicken's walking around!

This was while we were on our tour, we walked through several hallways, wine cellars, and even a torture chamber to get here: The suit of armor was so cool!

The bricks show two different eras of building castles, one side was when they just took all sizes to make it work, while the other was much more uniform and carved out brick sizes. And of course, a group shot - the staircase led to the draw bridge to enter the castle. There was even a moat!

A couple of shots of Dave and Gretchen while we still had a bit of light.

The room... Um Incredible??

Just a couple of details of the Castle.

This shot was from the courtyard where we had the cocktail hour, that is the chapel on the left.

Everything was just breath taking!

Paloma & Scott tie the knot!

Paloma and Scott took a break from hurricane season in the Virgin Islands to get married here in Sonoma! Once again, I had major shoe envy with Paloma's Christian Louboutin's and they were the perfect accent to go with her stunning Selia Yang gown! Maria Chang did an amazing job (as usual) with Paloma's hair and make-up while Nicole Ha graced the room with her incredible floral designs.

Paloma and Scott married August 14. 2008

Colors: Pale Pink, Platinum, and White

Venue: Viansa Winery, Sonoma

Hair & Make-up: Maria Chang, PMA

Floral Designs: Nicole Ha

I love Scott's reaction to seeing Paloma for the first time.

They held their ceremony in the barrel room. I love the warm ambience of it!

The tent looked INCREDIBLE! So chic!

One of the many advantages of hiring Maria Chang of PMA is having 2 hair styles. Up and elegant for the ceremony, then take it down and glamorous for the reception!

Brittny & Jon

I started out the day hanging out with Brittny, her girls and her mom as they all got ready. The mood around the house was very cheerful and relaxed. I had the pleasure of meeting Brittny's 3 younger sisters (Britt's brother was hanging with the boys) and couldn't believe how they all got along so well! They genuinely love each other! I don't know why it amazes me, I think it just reminds me of the relationship I have with my siblings. As the guests started to arrive, I noticed that a lot of my favorite clients were there! Then I realized something; the thing that I love about each of the families that I knew there, was the connection and love their share for one another. And then it hit me - the parents are all still married! And so are mine! It is so rare now-a-days that marriages last forever and being that I photograph weddings and document the love my couples share, I like to believe that they will all live happily ever after. If I didn't, my job would be meaningless.

Jon and Brittny are crazy about each other and it's so easy to see by the way they look at each other. Jon is such a sincere and honest guy and Brittny couldn't be any sweeter! Congrats you guys!

Jon & Brittny: Married August 10, 2008

Ceremony: Palm Event Center

Gown: Amy Kuschel

Suit: Hugo Boss

and did I mention they were also a totally GORGEOUS couple?!?

I LOVE the look on their faces! Britt was giddy all day long.
