About a month ago - well a bit over a month ago, but the beginning to a very BUSY extra long month :) I got the chance to travel to Vegas for Natalia and Heath's intimatly fabulous wedding at the Wynn! Michelle of MB Wedding Designs did a spectacular job on the decor and we all had a complete blast. We started out getting ready in one of the Wynn's Salon Suites, then hit old downtown for some relaxed and sexy portraits which, considering how hot and sweaty we all were due t 105 degree heat, turned out pretty great! When we returned, Natalia changed into a sexy black cocktail dress to enjoy cocktail hour with their guests. The service staff at the Wynn was outstanding and the food was exquisite! After a nice cocktail hour of mojitos and other refreshments, Natalia changed back into her gown for their ceremony in the suite overlooking city lights and the busy downtown below. After dinner and dessert, Natalia changed once again into a hot pink little number and we all headed to PURE for some late night partying! Life just doesn't get much better!

I had a great time photographing Kelly & James' ultra glamorous wedding at Viansa Winery in Sonoma. Not just becasue I got to work with some of my favorite people, but also because their families were so wonderful! While I was trying to move along the family portraits, the grandma's were completely cracking me up! I would yell at them to get moving {jokingly of course} and one of them jumped up and said "I just love you Jennifer Skog!" I couldn't help but laugh, then wonder how she knew my name - my full name?!? Later when Kelly was getting into her second dress for the reception, I asked how so many people knew my name? I was like a celebrity or something! Kelly said that it was because she had been raving about me since she hired me earlier this year - what a sweetheart! I had a blast and it was so fun being known! lol
A special thanks to my friend, Wei, who came all the way from Canada to shoot with me. He is ridiculously talented and is such an inspiration for me! Thanks dude! Another special treat was getting to see my good friends, Karen {and helpers including hubby, Curtis} and Cheryl of Fresh Bloom who did all of the amazing floral decor for this wedding. OK, onto the details....

Hmmm... Well, in case you haven't noticed, I'm over a month behind on my blogging! A MONTH! Not to worry, I'm still alive. I just have been crazy! I have 3 more fabulous weddings until my last wedding of the season. Woo-hoo more time to blog. maybe... I have lots of things in the works for new projects and can't wait to share some of my recent shoots!
I have been receiving a lot of emails from photographers asking about workshops and such, so I'm happy to announce that I will be teaming up with a few of my favorite photographer friends {and make-up artists} for new workshops. We are still determining dates and details, so stay tuned. In the meantime, email me with anything you would be interested in learning!
In other news, Scott and I found a house! Finally! Our first home, and we are thrilled {and a bit nervous}! The previous home owners just accepted our offer and now we are going through the stupid escrow process. Ugh! I always wondered what was wrong with people when they announce that they bought a house, and then frown about going through Escrow. It was such a downer to what seemed to be a happy time. I just didn't understand what the big deal was. How hard can it be to buy a house?!? Well, I have almost officially found out. I say 'almost' because I'm right in the middle of it and have no idea what is next to come. I feel like I've had the phone attached to my ear for 2 weeks! I just hope it ends soon and I get to move in!!! And decorate!
Below is a sneak peak of recent shoots that are coming soon!

So, this day just keeps getting better and better. I have received a few incredible emails today that made me smile and just got one more! My friend Georgina from Weddings on Film emailed me a couple of months ago encouraging me to enter in some images for Pacific Magazine's Nostalgic Photo Contest. So I did! And got a sweet email today informing me that one of my images from Carrie and Eric's wedding is a finalist! Go check it out and go vote!!! It's a real simple voting process, just post a quick comment with the number and image name {#4 Sweet Emotion} with a brief description of why you love it!!! Thanks for voting guys and thanks to Carrie and Eric for being so easy to photograph!

| The day after Mike and Brittney's fabulous wedding in San Ramon, we headed out to a sweet spot in Napa for a mini sunset shoot. Well... on our way up there, we took a wrong turn and my gps took us through 30 MILES of the Napa hills!!! I was horrified! Why didn't it just tell us to turn around! Needless to say, I nearly killed us trying to get to the spot where my friend and fellow photog, Jen Kloss Heffner was waiting to join in the fun. Even though I was showing some crazy driving skills and nearly killed a vulture in the road my light chase did not end with the sun. The sun literally set behind the hills when we pulled up. So... we raced around with the light that was still out there and then played with a little flash flavor! I really love the results, sometimes a little challenge can totally surprise you! Thanks Jen for coming out to play! Here are a few of my favs.... |
